April Michelle Bratten was born in Marrero, Louisiana, in the early 80's. As a military child, she moved a lot in her youth, residing in Charleston, SC, Virginia Beach, VA, and Incirlik, Turkey. April currently lives in Minot, North Dakota, and will remain there until the city life once again calls her name.

April is an English major and Humanities minor at Minot State University. Her writing genre of choice is poetry, but she loves writing literary crits and nerdy essays as well. She has been included in several small publications such as Red Pulp Underground, The Taj Mahal Review, Poetic Hours Magazine, and Gloom Cupboard. April attempts to find inspiration in even the most mundane of surroundings. She finds beauty in simplicity, and simplicity in complexity. She wishes that more people would focus on the mechanics of poetry.

The current love of April's life is Up the Staircase, an endeavor she has long been planning with her best friend and partner, Stephanie Anderson. All of April's dedication, devotion, hopes, and dreams, rest in Up the Staircase and she hopes to see you there.

Stephanie N. Anderson is an English major at Austin Peay State University, with a minor in Creative Writing. Her poetry has been published in several print and online magazines, including Volume Magazine, Eclectica Magazine, Decanto, Clean Sheets, Poetry Monthly and Poetic Hours Magazine. She also has poetry coming out soon in a collaborative chapbook.

As a confessional poet, Stephanie seeks to depict the subjective emotions and responses that objects and events arouse in the human heart, bringing humanity in touch with the depth of their emotion. She is inspired most by the Eastern European poets, such as Nina Cassian, Nichita Stanescu, Anna Akhmatova, Olga Berggolts, Bella Akhmadulina, Natalya Gorbanevskaya, Yevgeny Yevteshenko and Marina Tsvetaeva.

Besides writing poetry, Stephanie is the mother of a beautiful two year old boy, Jude, and she tutors high school Math. She lives in Tennessee.

Her career aspirations include owning a small press with her fellow editor, April Bratten, as well as working at home as a freelance writer. And a London office wouldnt be so bad....and maybe eventually a Nobel Prize?

This project is the portal.
