An attempt to be simply there by June Nandy
I have lifted my anchor
and disappeared into thin air.
Like the cartographer’s map
I stitch my guises.
Images of Zubeida and Ketaki
have dissolved into poor aunts’
story. I am a plant in the garden
of Semiramis—growing quietly,
hanging above ground.
I’ve adapted to time-tables
of the real: hopping-hyper,
veering-virtual—always another
with another; never together.
I’m partial to forms: fluid--
displaced—airy in the neck of
a trombone, in the chair of a
skyway, in tele-check-ins,
in fax machines.
I have no patience with
tote-bag full of bra-conflicts
but admit my sex has imploded.
