We are currently CLOSED to all poetry and fiction submissions. Submissions will reopen when issue 16 becomes available. -Please read Up the Staircase Quarterly before you submit. Not only will you read some great writing, but this will also give you a taste of our style and preferences. -No simultaneous submissions please. We normally only take about 6 weeks to respond, usually sooner. -Submission responses will be sent to the contributor once the submission period (of approximately 6 weeks) has ended. -We desire original work. No previously published work please. -You may submit to us only ONCE per quarter. -Please note that we cannot currently pay our writers for the work we accept. Please submit up to five poems to poetry@upthestaircase.org. Put "poetry submission" in the subject line of your email along with the name you wish to be published under. Send the poems in the body of the email. If your work requires special formatting, you may send an attachment along with the email. If your work is accepted, an editor might request that you provide your text in an attachment for formatting purposes. Include a brief bio (50 words or less) with your submission.
Please submit up to 5 flash fiction pieces (totaling 5000 words or less) or one short story (total of 5000 words or less) to fiction@upthestaircase.org Put "Fiction/Prose Submission" in the subject line along with the name you wish to be published under. Send your fiction in the body of the email. If your work requires special formatting, you may send an attachment. If your work is accepted, an editor might request that you provide your text in an attachment for formatting purposes. Send a brief bio (50 words or less). _____________________ Staircase Photography: CURRENTLY CLOSED If you would like to submit any staircase photography (i.e. photos of STAIRCASES) for our issue covers, please put "photo submission" as the title of your email and send them as .jpg attachments to photos@upthestaircase.org. If we decide to use one of your photos for a cover, we will notify you through email which photo we have selected, which issue it will appear in, and we will credit you for your work when it appears. Please note that if accepted, your photo could be altered slightly in size, and text would be added to it. For the time being, we will not be accepting unsolicited book review submissions. We apologize for any inconvenience. Book Review submissions may return sometime in the future.
