Anisa Gandevivala | Ghazal for the Fire
I send you my water poems, they are all fire
in a city, the mail brings rain, fall fire
I was afraid of the yagnas, vengeful fire
when I belong to more than one life, tall fire
I wear wings of glass and music, squall fire
and lift you off a mistaken bed, enthrall fire
A state is burning, so I bring the weather, small fire
another wife calls us inextinguishable, crumbling wall fire
I am young again, in a forest, watching the sun, resolve fire
learning how to make a spark with stones and wood, gall fire
I saw the sacred, when I was a girl and you were born, fire
I lost my life and became yours in that instant, sworn fire
My secret sends me Farishtas from the other side, twirl fire
I light a light for you each night, ‘fire’, it calls, ‘fire’.
