My Favorite Online Businesses Run by Women Authors in 2014
by Cee Martinez
As anyone familiar with the writing world knows, most of us authors write poetry, stories, and articles out of love. Sure we’d all love to ink that big contract and make a living off of our words handsome enough to leave us set for life. We want to sit at our laptops all day writing and binging on Netflix, but alas… we have day jobs, and sometimes, we have online businesses. That being the case, there is hardly anything more awesome than helping out an author and taking a look at their shops and businesses online!
1. Tiffany Chaney is a poet (http://www.tiffanychaney.com/books.html) who also supplements her living by providing empathetic and illuminating Tarot readings with her online service, Tarot With Tif. Check out her page HERE. She has a wonderful system that makes her Tarot readings affordable and accessible to just about anyone who would desire one. She takes great care to ensure that each reading is unique to the customer.
2. Dallas Athent is a writer and editor. Information on her novel can be found HERE.
She also is an essential oils goddess and has blended her own recipes for success, creativity, love and everything else. Information can be found on her tumblr: http://magickhamster.tumblr.com/ My personal favorite is the love oil. It’s simply delicious!
3. Margaret Bashaar is an author (http://margaretbashaar.wordpress.com/) and also the editor of the absolutely wonderful Hyacinth Girl Press. HGP publishes chapbooks that are beautiful handmade works of love and does not even charge a reading fee. They also have a chapbook of free poems about snakes. Who doesn’t love snakes? Well.. the point is, I love snakes.
4. Paige MacTaggart is a poet (http://www.mactaggartjewelry.com/p/books.html) who also designs and sells some gorgeous pieces of jewelry on her website HERE. These pieces are definite works of love and deserve to be seen!
5. Kristy Bowen is another author (http://www.kristybowen.net/) who also runs a chapbook press: dancing girl press. These chapbooks are well designed and the poetry is top notch. This is not a run of the mill press and everyone should go in and check it out!
Cee Martinez is a staff writer and social media assistant for Lunalunamag.com . She spends whatever time she has during the day doing odd-jobs and tasks for precious moniez to fund her ability to get food and life essentials. When she’s not doing that she’s drinking tea, writing, painting, and playing with her stuffed animals
