Artist Statement

"These pieces make up a part of an ongoing series, Housings (Dream Paintings), which seeks to capture the inexpressible feelings and the unreal architecture of dreaming. I'm fascinated by the stories the mind tells itself through dreams and the metaphors which help us to better understand our own consciousness. I'm interested in the attempt to share with others the uniquely personal meanings of dreams."

Emily Rankin was born in Riverside, California and university in Abilene, Texas where she received a BFA in 2011. Her body of work ranges from Graphic Design and Scenic Painting to collaborative performances with Verstehen, an improvisational and interactive series which incorporates live painting, sound, and electronics.
