E Pluribus Unum

His false teeth.
His wife's sheets
hanging in the East
Room.  His walls of snaking
brick.  His wife saving
portraits from the fire.
His good feelings,
his long trousers,
his coon-skin attire.
His silver goblet and golden plate.
His sudden death
after hours hatless in cold rain.
Alas, alas:
his many progeny,
his manifest destiny,
his horse, Whitey,
grazing on the White House grass.
