Anti-Vivisectionist by Matt Dennison
Start dissecting love
and you'll end with
a scattering of bone,
an old ham sandwich,
twelve rain-wrapped
tornadoes crawling
on elbows toward
the wrong bus on
the wrong night
in the wrong
town in the
wrong city
just like
us.
Matt Dennison finished his undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University where he won the National Sigma Tau Delta essay competition (judged by X.J. Kennedy). His work has appeared in Rattle, Natural Bridge, The Spoon River Poetry Review, and Cider Press Review, among others.
