ARTIST STATEMENT
Each piece that I create further explores The World Of Reverie, the home-realm of all dreamscapes and stories that compose Surrealismac.
The culture of this world has many similarities to our own; Reverie Folk spend their time balancing thoughts and feelings, with curiosity at their forefront. Unlike many Earth dwellers, however, Reverie is not generally concerned with units of time or survival. Though innately magical, Reverie is not an un-scientific world. Rather, it is one where emotions present as tangible 'auras', noticeably affecting matter, weather patterns, and other Folk. To them, magic is an extension of science, and all the more intriguing for it.
Contrasted against day-to-day life, Reverie is a daydream; a vibrant escape from insomnia, boredom, and formality. Though many subcultures make up the planetary array, it is a place that ultimately shares our mortal goal to balance busyness with manageability, whimsy with tact, and most of all, dreams with sleep. Filled with caricatures of sanctuary and passion, the places and faces from this boundless world are each extreme in their personalities, coming together to form a diversified balance across the realm.
As Reverie grows onward, the endless details of their world present themselves in many ways. Some are meant to soothe or inspire, others to provoke or perplex~ but regardless of the taste, each piece of this place is chocked full of flavor. I wonder, if humans didn't ever die, would we find the same solaces in recreation? If the stakes were much lower, would the human race choose to fight or to play? Well, regardless of this world, Reverie has made up its mind on the matter.
